Welcome. I’m Roberta Pacino, a Seattle artist, acrylic painter, filmmaker, and lifelong storyteller.
You may have arrived here because my last name is familiar. Yes, Al Pacino is my brother. That is part of my story, but it is not the whole story.
This is where you can discover my own creative world: original acrylic paintings rooted in magical realism, symbolism, cinematic storytelling, expressive animals, and powerful women.
Every original begins by hand on canvas. I paint slowly and intentionally, allowing an idea, a feeling, or a question to gradually become a world of its own.

A Life Shaped by Story
I was born in New York and raised in Southern California in a family shaped by theater, music, film, and creative expression.
Story was never separate from life. It was woven into it.
Later, I earned an MFA in Film Producing and worked behind the camera on documentary and creative projects. For years, storytelling lived for me through light, framing, atmosphere, emotion, and the unseen current beneath a scene.
That cinematic eye never left me.
It simply found a new canvas.
Becoming a Painter
I came to painting later in life, after many years of creative work, spiritual reflection, and inner change.
For much of my life, I carried a quiet belief that I was not quite enough. I achieved, created, and worked hard, yet something in me still felt unfinished.
Through years of Dzogchen practice and deep inner work, I began to understand that I didn't have to earn my worth. It was already there.
Something began to shift.
Even before I started painting, I had been making little doodles—spontaneous characters that seemed to appear on their own. I began to feel there was something significant about them. I saved them, collected them, and started paying attention.
Eventually, I began sketching and then painting.
I hadn't planned to become an artist. But I found a new way of expressing something that had been developing within me for years.
What surprised me was how much the paintings seemed to reveal themselves as I worked. Unexpected elements would appear, changing the story and adding layers of meaning I hadn't consciously intended.
And that discovery continues. Sometimes, years after completing a painting, I recognize something in it that I hadn't understood before.
Painting has become another way of discovering my own story.

The World Inside the Paintings
My paintings live somewhere between the familiar and the mysterious.
Animals gather around tables, women carry light into the world, and ordinary moments become something unexpected. There's often humor, tenderness, symbolism, and a story waiting to unfold.
I don't always know what a painting is trying to tell me when I begin. Characters and details sometimes appear unexpectedly, adding meanings I hadn't imagined. And even years after a painting is finished, I may discover something new within it.
I hope people who encounter my work experience something similar.
Perhaps a painting will remind them of something from their own lives, awaken a memory, or suggest a meaning entirely different from the one I discovered.
I love the idea that someone might realize a painting has found them, rather than the other way around.
That there's something within its story waiting for them to discover.
To me, that's part of the conversation.
