“Roberta Pacino VR art gallery—gentle invitation for traditional artists”

An Invitation to the Metaverse for Traditional Artists

I’m always looking for one more place to show my work. Galleries are great. Pop-ups are fun. Community spaces have heart. The metaverse is simply another venue in that mix. Another door people can walk through to see your art and talk with you.

It’s still early. Things change every week. But commerce in the metaverse is growing, and right now the cost to try it is low, often just your time and curiosity. That’s a gift.

What it feels like for me

I hang a small group of paintings in a virtual room. Someone drops by, from Seattle, Italy, or someplace I’ve never been. We walk together. They stop at a piece that catches them. I tell a little story; they tell me what they see. Simple. Human. That’s the part I love.

I keep one promise front and center as I show people around:
“This is a true work of art, painted by hand and thoughtfully crafted for your collection.”
It reminds people there’s a person behind the picture.

You don’t need fancy gear

If you have a headset, great. If not, start on your laptop or phone. Some platforms work just fine that way. When you’re ready, add a headset for the deeper, incredibly immersive experience.

Start small

  • Choose 8–12 pieces that feel like they belong together.
  • Add short labels with the title, medium, and a creation date if you like
  • Invite people to a 20-minute walk-through.
  • Provide a clear next step, a link to see sizes and details on your site.

I learn a lot this way: what people notice first, what questions they ask, and which works keep pulling them back. That feedback is fascinating and informs my work.

Why it’s worth trying now

  • Another venue —When space is tight in the physical world, this room is open.
  • Real conversations — You can meet viewers where they are, and answer in real time.
  • Clarity — Seeing your pieces together teaches you about your own body of work.
  • Low cost — Entry is inexpensive. It’s a good time to experiment!

I believe most artists will eventually have a small spot in the metaverse, the way we all ended up with websites or social pages. Not because it’s flashy, but because it’s useful.

If you’re curious

Make one small room in the metaverse for your art. That’s it. Don’t wait for perfect. The room is the invitation; you are the welcome.

If you’d like a nudge, I host quick, friendly tours of my spaces, and I can point you to simple, low-cost ways to get started. I also keep two plots in the Multiverse, Artopia Artist District, where beginners can try a ready-to-customize storefront or gallery. Happy to show you around.

Now is a good time to begin.
